Happy New Year and I hope everyone is enjoying this holiday season! I am writing from my parent's home in Florida and I have attached below a photo of a life-sized gingerbread house at one of the local hotels for any of you ambitious bakers out there!
As 2023 winds down, I am struck by how time seems to be flying faster and faster the older I get. It seems like yesterday when my daughter believed in Santa and the Elf on the Shelf, and now, she's a sophomore in college. As I look ahead to 2024, I am excited about another year with family and friends, another collegiate tennis season to watch, another spring and summer in the low country (my favorite seasons), and another year of practicing medicine. The last few years have been a stark reminder that life can be short and that nothing can be taken for granted. Instead of a specific "New Year's resolution," such as losing 5 pounds (which I need to do!), I am just going to try to be better in 2024...be a better daughter, a better mother, a better friend, and a better employer. I hope to be better about finishing my books for book club, exercising more, eating healthier, and being more mindful.
I am also going to try to do better with more timely blog posts! In the latter half of this year, I have posted less frequently but will attempt to improve on this since the intention of the blogs is to provide medical information and plastic surgery updates. Unfortunately, this week, I really have no new exciting medical updates. It does look like more of the weight loss drugs are hitting the market to compete with Ozempic. Other medical news is highlighting the high numbers of respiratory illnesses from the flu, Covid, and RSV. So get sleep, eat well, and take your vitamins, like B12!
I also hope the blogs provide a little laughter at times! Another goal of mine for 2024 is to laugh more. On that note, I leave you with this Instagram post I saw last night.
And rest assured, it wouldn't be a blog without a link (or two) to a music video. The first is a throwback New Year's music video from ABBA! The second is a link to a song by one of my favorite bands, U2, and it just so happens that another New Year's hope of mine is to see them in Vegas this year.
Hope everyone's New Year's dreams come true!
Happy New Year. Stay safe and 'til 2024!
